About us

A1 Driving School was established in 1982 by Wayne and Christine Young, with a vision of providing quality driver training for a fair price. 40+ years later with a team of skilled and passionate driving instructors we remain committed to our vision. Now teaching generations of families to drive.

All our instructors are NZTA approved and receive regular professional development and mentoring, including best industry practices.

Covering the Wellington,  Porirua and Lower Hutt areas we offer a wide range of services for class 1 car training, from Road Code Tuition support, to all on road training from beginners to advanced driver training, Refresher courses, Street Talk defensive driving courses and company training.

A1 Driving School understands also our business role in reducing the impact of environmental carbon emissions.To help with this we have invested in a range of low-emission vehicles. At present, roughly 80% of our vehicles are Hybrids and 20% low emission petrol vehicles. Also as part of our driver training we have managed to integrate fuel efficient / low emission driving practices to help ensure that our clients driving skills in the future will have a positive impact on reducing carbon emissions.
